Born in Marseille in 1988, Léa Legros-Pontal lives in Bern as a freelancer. She completed her Bachelor of Music with Honours at the Conservatoire Supérieur in Lyon in 2012. In two different Masters of Music (Performance and Orchestra) she was able to study at the Hochschule in Lucerne with Isabel Charisius and Sylvia Zucker. Léa's great passion is chamber music and this was fostered during the string quartet class of Quatuor Ysaÿe at the Paris Conservatoire and during a five year stint as member of a trio with flute and harp. Léa works regularly with the Sinfonieorchester St Gallen, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and the Festival Strings Lucerne. She is also Principal Viola of Camerata Ataremac in Lausanne and member of the Berner Kammerorchester (BKO).

Contemporary music and free improvisation are two of her most important musical activities. During her studies in Lyon, she took part in the improvisation class of Henri-Charles Caget and Jean-Marc Foltz. Léa received further artistic input whilst working with Garth Knox, Laurent Estoppey and Jacques Demierre.

Since her studies in Lyon, Léa has developed a great interest in early music and historical performance practice and has studied baroque viola with Sabine Stoffer since 2018. She performs regularly with Arpa Festante and Chiave d'Arco.
